Creative Ways to Make More Space in Your Home
24 November 2021

Whether you’re living in a micro-apartment or have a freestanding home, a little extra space is always appreciated. Similarly, if you are single, coupled up or have a family of your own, we’re sure that the idea of having extra space has crossed your mind a few times. Read our tips below to learn some creative hacks for increasing space without breaking the bank.
Wicker baskets and boxes
Those beautiful wicker baskets, boxes and storage draws that are sold on the side of the road are not only lovely to look at but provide a wondrous amount of storage space. If you have a coffee table in your living room then stow a wicker basket underneath and use it to store blankets, books and games. The great thing about these baskets is that they add a lovely, natural design element to your home while still being very practical. Get a few for your kids rooms to store extra bedding, toys and even bulkier winter items that take up too much space. You can also use these baskets as a decor point and instead of hiding them away under tables, use them as your coffee table with a few magazines on top. Plus, you’ll be supporting a small local business - who doesn't want that!

Storage trolleys
Storage trolleys are what space-loving dreams are made of. No matter your budget, you can easily find a storage trolley on online homeware or warehouse stores. Storage trolleys are amazing for the kitchen as they can keep all of your fruits and vegetables, your cookbooks, pots, pans and even dishcloths and towels. What we love about these nifty homeware pieces is that they can easily be moved to another area of your home to be used as storage shelves. While they work really well as storage space for your spices and dry goods, they also work very well in your bathroom and can be used to store toilet paper, toiletries and all of your towels.
Cupboard dividers and hooks
If you find that you are struggling with space in your cupboards then consider getting a few storage shelf dividing trays to add more shelves without needing to drill into the cupboards. This is an especially useful hack if you live in a rental and can’t make any major changes. Another nifty little hack is to make your own hooks. Remember how your grandma used to have hooks under her shelves for her tea cups? This is a great, space saving way to store mugs and cups and will allow you to store dishes, plates and bowls underneath.
Make storage boxes your friend
Storage boxes don’t need to look hideous - there are easy ways to cover them up! Get a few boxes and fill them with everything that is taking up too much space like non-perishable foods, excess cleaning products and even random bits and bobs that just have no place to go. Once they are packed up, stack them up and cover them with a neutral coloured cloth in an empty corner of the room. If they are in a room that you use often, then why not even string some battery operated fairy lights around them for a beautiful, warming glow.
