New year organisation hacks
30 January 2023

It’s the start of a new year and that means that it’s time to do a proper clean out and banish old, unwanted items. Getting your home ready for 2023 has never been this easy with our fool-proof tips and tricks!
Ease up the linen cupboard
The linen and towel cupboard are the most underrated cupboard that always seems to be stuffed to the brim with cloths, pillows and all sorts of fabric things. Keep your cupboard neat and clean by doing some savvy organisation. Our favourite hack is to tightly pack up your bedding set (pillowcases, save one on the side), duvet cover and sheet and fold it all into the 1 remaining pillowcase. That way, it will be easier for you to find your matching bedding sets without having to unpack your cupboard every time you change your bedding.
You can also get some Perspex boxes (plastic warehouses have them for a lot cheaper than home decor stores) and organize hand towels, bath towels and spare bedding by packing them into their own containers. This will not only save you tons of space but will make finding something a pleasure. Use the free space in your linen cupboard to store extra toiletries, candles, spare throws and blankets and be amazed at the difference to makes!
Make a rule
If you are finished using it, put it away immediately. From t-shirts to tins, this rule is one that will save you time in the long-run and ensure that you don’t have to declutter and organise as often as you think. You will also start to notice the items you use the most and the things you hardly use which will come in handy when you want to donate or make some additional space in the home. Once you do realise that you are not using a particular item of clothing or even a specific utensil, pack it in a box and keep it out of sight for 2 months. If you haven't thought of it or looked for it in that time, then it’s time to donate!

Tidy up the bathroom
If your nail clippers, file and scissors are always lying about or getting lost, then put an end to it now! Stick some magnets on the inside of your cupboard and attach the stainless-steel manicure equipment to them. Not only will they be easy to find, but you’ll never lose them again!
Reuse your grocery bags
We get it, you have heaps of fabric bags from the store, yet you always forget them at home? Once you’re done shopping, immediately pack your reusable bags back into your car or handbag to ensure that you always have them on hand (helping to save you money!). If you still find that you have a lot scattered about, then use them to grow some vegetables! If you have any potatoes or sweet potatoes with eyes on them. Simply fill up a bag with compost and plop your sprouted potato inside for an endless supply of them. You can also use these bags to grow herbs like rocket, spinach or chives and chilies.
Store out of season items.
There’s nothing worse than having unnecessary clutter in the home that won’t be need for a few months. Why not clean up even more and hire a storage unit near your home or office. This way, you can easily store items and get them out of the way until you need them. This can be anything from seasonal clothes and bedding or even unused furniture.
